University of Queensland (UQ)  – Tim Henwood received a 1st class research honours (2002) and a PhD (2008) from the UQ School of Human Movements studies before becoming the Health Ageing Research Fellow for the University of Queensland/Blue Care Research and Practice Development Centre. He was most recently (2015) awarded an Honorary Senior Research Fellow conferral with the School of Human Movement and Nutritional Sciences.


burnie_braeBurnie Brae – Dr Henwood and the Burnie Brae senior citizens community centre have had a long established relationship that has successfully improved health and activity options for Burnie Brae’s clients and members. Two example of the strength of this partnership are the successful Burnie Brae Healthy Connections exercise clinic that attracts greater than 500 fifty years + adults each week, and the Department of Social Services Muscling Up Against Disability award offering older adults with government aged care support resistance training opportunity.


bond_logo1Bond University – Dr Henwood holds an Adjunct Assistant Professorship with the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine. He works closely with Bond on a number of projects investigating sarcopenia, gait speed and exercise in hospital rehabilitation and residential aged care adults.


svha-logoSt Vincent’s Health Australia (SVHA) – Dr Henwood has assisted SVHA with the delivery of a number of client targeted residential aged care and community care wellness options. Projects have comprised exercise clinic design and fit out, programme design, staff training and resource development, and organisation wellness investigation.  SVHA are the aged care partner on Dr Henwood’s Department of Social Services Muscling Up Against Disability project offering older adults with government aged care support resistance training opportunity.


lifetecLifeTec – Dr Henwood has been an active member of the successful, LifeTec managed, Positive Ageing Journey symposium organising committee since the conferences conception (2008).


Hur_strength_blueHUR Australia – Dr Henwood has had a long established relationship with HUR Australia that ensures care providers and clients can achieve their health and wellness goals using appropriate equipment. Dr Henwood is a supporter of the HUR Helsinki exercise concept and has worked with the companies’ Australian arm to improve the usability of the equipment and their electronic interface.  HUR Australia are an industry partner on Dr Henwood’s Department of Social Services Muscling Up Against Disability award offering older adults with government aged care support resistance training opportunity.


logoBlue Care – As the Healthy Ageing Research Fellow in the University of Queensland/Blue Care Research Centre Dr Henwood has partnered on a number of internal projects looking at client and staff health and wellness. Dr Henwood’s research is responsible for the Queensland state-wide utilised Blue Care Day Respite Exercise programme that has been shown to reduce disability and falls risk in community-dwelling older adults with care needs.


ESSAAccreditedLogo01Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) – Dr Henwood has been an active Exercise Physiologist member of ESSA since 2008. He is presently the Age Care representative on the national Exercise Physiology Advisory Group, a member of the national Ethics Committee and is mentoring emerging exercise physiologist with an interest in healthy ageing.
