Dr. Tim Henwood boasts decades of experience publishing academic and sector publications, specialising in targeted exercise programs for adults aged 65 and older in community and residential aged care settings.
His extensive academic career includes authoring over 100 peer-reviewed publications and sector reports, securing more than $10 million in project funding, and delivering over 130 conference presentations - including over 30 as an invited keynote speaker.
For over 7 years, Dr. Henwood served as Group Manager Health & Wellness at Southern Cross Care (SA, NT and Vic) Inc., where he significantly expanded the service to become South Australia's largest provider in this space. Under his leadership, he established six state-of-the-art Health & Wellness clinics, offering multidisciplinary allied health services and group exercises both on- and off-site.
Additionally, he oversaw the opening of four new Respite cottages, including innovative partnerships catering to clients with advanced dementia and complex care needs. Dr. Henwood pioneered a Short-term Restorative Care program that influenced government reablement reforms and launched a statewide Telehealth program to support regionally distanced older adults with complex health needs. He also established the social engagement program Out & About and attracted over $5 million in grant funding for research into improved aged care models.
Dr. Henwood's leadership resulted in significant sector growth, including expansion into Darwin and Victoria, strategic partnerships with state and federal health departments and universities, and a remarkable 300% increase in the Health & Wellness workforce. His initiatives also led to a 500% increase in client membership, driving growth in Home Care Package utilisation and residential and retirement services.
